Texas Job Search

Due to population growth and American's living longer the healthcare industry has become one of the fastest growing industries in the country. Aside from expanding staff, some hospitals are finding it necessary to add new wings to accommodate the increased number of patients expected to be admitted over the next few years doing a Texas job search.

The Texas Medical Center, already the largest medical complex in the world, announced on Wednesday that they have plans for the biggest expansion in the centerss 60-year history. According the Center's press release, it is investing more than $7 billion in this construction project, hoping this will enable them to keep up the growing population's needs. With the Census Bureau reporting that area serviced by the Medical Center, Harris County and surrounding suburbs, will increase by approximately two million people over the next two decades, this expansion is necessary.

Aside from the state of area healthcare rising to meet population increases, this expansion will create 30,000 new Texas jobs over the next seven years. Not all of these positions will be medically related. New support and administrative jobs will likely be a part of the staff expansions. The press release said that this construction project will create a "Texas Medical Center business district," which will be comparable to the top ten business districts in the country. There was no word on how many new jobs in Texas are expected to be created in the surrounding area as a result of the complex's expansion. At this time, the Texas Medical Center already employees approximately 73,000 people.

Also expected to soon create new Texas jobs in healthcare is the Scott and White Memorial Hospital, located in Temple. Scott and White Memorial recently received a $7.5 million grant for cancer research. This money will be used to fund studies aimed at finding a cure for cancers caused by solid tumors such as brain and breast cancer. Also in plan for this grant money is the creation of new facilities. This expansion is expected to create 1,500 new Texas jobs within the next decade. Scott and White Memorial Hospital is already the largest private employer in Bell County.

This increase in Texas employment opportunities will likely create other economic possibilities throughout the area, including Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
