El Paso Jobs
By Job Tipster | October 17, 2008
El Paso is located on the Rio Grande and is the sixth largest city in Texas. According to the 2006 U.S. Census report, is the 21st-largest city in the country. From 2000 to 2006, El Paso was considered the seventh fastest-growing large city in the nation, with a population of around 736,310.
Fort Bliss, which is a major United States Army base, is to both the east and northeast of the city. The fort is a major supplier of civilian jobs and greatly stimulates the area’s economy.
In the early 1990s El Paso began to be effected by outsourcing, which has caused some problems with employment in certain sectors. Being so close to the border, El Paso is also very sensitive to fluctuation in the Mexican economy.
