    Utah

Utah is located in the western part of the United States. The majority of the state’s residents live along the Wasatch Front, while other parts of the state are virtually uninhabited. Salt Lake City serves as the state capital.

The name Utah comes from the Ute Indian language, meaning “people of the mountains.” Utah was admitted as the 45th state into the Union in 1896. It also is known as being one of the most religiously homogeneous states in the country, with 58 percent of the population belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Mormon Church.

Today Utah is known as being a center for transportation, information technology, research, government services and mining. Utah also is a popular tourist and outdoor recreation spot.
