Sites like Facebook are a fun and easy way to engage with contacts and to have two-way communication with people who are interested in your organization. Twitter is another great tool that allows you to easily blast updates to your followers. At the same time, job boards, especially niche ones, continue to provide good return on investment for employers targeting niche audiences. A perfect example is Craigslist. The site has hardly changed in ten years, yet it remains one of the most effective sites for targeting job seekers geographically. So which recruiting resource is the most effective? The year is just beginning and the long term prospects for college students are favorable. Factors larger than the current crisis, such as an aging population, the need for government spending in certain areas, and the need for more financial accountability will translate into more opportunities. We are starting the year with a curiosity of what’s in store for us, and the silver lining definitely provides hope for a good come back.

Students are turning to Web sites like CollegeRecruiter.com and AfterCollege.com for career advice and job opportunities. Steven Rothberg of CollegeRecruiter.com said that new grads can make a couple of strong moves to maximize their job search. "Don’t spend day after day on the job boards. Use sites such as LinkedIn and write a blog about the organization you most want to work for. Above all, network, network, network." So kids, put down that mojito and get crackin'!
