There is an **epidemic** of parental over-involvement in kids’ lives that has hit an all-time high… and it just HAS to stop. Seriously. If you are a parent of a college student, PLEASE read this post:

You do NOT need to write resumes for your kids, apply to jobs on behalf of your kids, call the school’s career center if your kid isn’t selected for an interview at Goldman, and you **especially** do not need to call my team at Experience to ask us to “double-check the interview scheduling software code because there MUST be a mistake somewhere for Little Johnny to not have been selected by Goldman.” Consider this an intervention: that’s right, put down the phone…gently…good…ok, now take a few steps back, and a deep breath… it’s going to be ok. You survived without your parents hovering over your every move, right? Yes, I know… you are “much cooler” than your parents were. Right. But I’m telling you, you’re not doing your kid any favors. It does not help Little Johnny’s reputation when you call the Dean to discuss the B- he received in Econ 101. Or when you call his boss to discuss his latest performance review feedback, especially when you suggest specific word choice edits. The reason the rest of us refer to you as “Helicopter Parents” is because you hover incessantly over your kids’ lives, and then swoop in to take charge… Please stop the madness!!!
